Our pollinating insects are in decline, through loss of nectar-rich flowering habitats from both rural and urban areas. In order to help create new areas for pollinators to feed, Continental Landscapes sponsored an area of Bracknell Bus Station to install wildflower meadow areas. Working in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council, we stripped some of the grass banking near the underpass and replaced with wildflower meadow turf, and oversowed with wildflower seed mix. We also designed and installed an interpretation panel to better inform Bracknell’s residents of why the work was carried out, and what species they could expect to see. We will continue to manage the site on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council to continue keeping the site pollinator-friendly.
