To commemorate the Centennial of the Cheshire Federation of the Women’s Institute the ‘West End Girls Sankey Valley WI’ planted an Oak tree in the Westbrook Community Orchard on the 31st January. The orchard is supported by The Land Trust and Continental Landscapes Ltd. Both The Land Trust and Continental Landscapes help community’s plant trees and create green spaces to provide habitat and nectar sources for wildlife.
The 12ft Oak tree was supplied by Continental Landscapes Ltd who also prepared the ground and helped plant the tree.
Jean Harding and Selina Prescott, who are the Chair and Vice-chair of the CFWI, were invited to witness the planting of the tree.
A big thanks to ‘Our Great Sankey WI group’, West End Girls Sankey Valley for getting the tree planting project off the ground.
