HGV Driver – Twickenham

We are seeking an HGV vehicle driver to operate in our Richmond Cleansing contract.

Duties include driving a company vehicle, litter picking, occasional sweeping, emptying litter bins and various other street cleansing tasks.

1. To provide ‘on the job’ advice / guidance to people within a team whilst undertaking cleansing duties. Principal duties include the removal of litter, sharps, graffiti, weeds, fly tipping, animal excrement, dead animals and fly posters in accordance with the service standards.

2. To be accountable for the quality of work achieved at specific sites/routes in Wandsworth.

3. To drive company vehicles, and be responsible for all daily checks, routine maintenance, and vehicle cleanliness ensuring that any defects found are reported to the Supervisor/Assistant Contract Manager.

4. To transport colleagues, equipment, and waste as directed by the management in accordance with relevant procedures and legislation.

5. To ensure all machinery and equipment are treated with care, attention and are correctly and regularly operated in a safe manner, ensuring that the correct equipment is used for the correct job, including pedestrian sweeper, industrial power washers, blowers, hand tools, sweeping brushes, spades etc.

6. Ensure that all Cleaning Team operatives are provided with all relevant personal protective equipment to enable them to carry out their duties in a safe and healthy manner and avoid harm or injury to any other person.

7. To deal with the general public, residents and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.

8. To undertake appropriate training as and when required.

9. To undertake such duties as are appropriate to your grade and hours of work as may reasonably be required of you by your supervisor/line manager.
